Books for Mail!

Does anyone want a copy of "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd? Full of juicy bee intrigue: "Don't mention I buzzed it, but the queen looks tacky in yellow!"

Also here "The Family Tree" by Sherri Tepper. Totally trippy environmental scifi.

Or "The Postman" by David Brin. Postapocolyptic mailman, who can resist? You should know what the movie version cut out!

Sorry these aren't linked to Amazon, but the links will make me late for work!

Where it Counts

My kids asked me, "Mom, do you think aliens exist?" I said, "That's not the question. More important is, 'Do spaceships exist?'"

On the Thin Ice of a New Day

Okay. So I'm stressed out, only skating by on hubris (and running low at that). Whatever shall we do?

It's world war III and no one will trade too much for too much or even too little for too little...

Risin' up to the challenge of our rival

My car is at the shop with a broken sway bar. But I still spent some time at the hospital this weekend where my Dad is is back with pneumonia. He's back on the vent so at least he's pink, but my hope is starting to flag. When life is less about living than surviving it changes people.

Yet still I have a funny for you. Every once in a while I heard "Ahhhhahhhhahhhhh!"
I thought, "Oh, that poor lady... Gosh, why don't they do something... They should give her some morphine... Maybe even sedate her..." On my way out the automatic door goes "Ahhhhahhhhahhhhh!"

Got Thesaurus?

The other day my friend Mark and I were on a call with Tech Support. We were supposed to change some settings. I said, "Okay, but it's going to take a couple of days for the transactions to become... homogenous." They laughed at me. "Uh, we're not talking about milk here." I couldn't think of a phrase like "the same"? I am such a dork. : )

It's Alive!

Here is my garden: Cucumbers, watermelon, oregano, parsley, cilantro, bell peppers, tomatoes, basil, green onions, cantaloupe, garlic, peas, rosemary, lettuce, carrots, spearmint, cabbage, dill, spinach, sunflowers, and potatoes. The basil and cantaloupe are limping along, but I'm hoping they will improve when it warms up.

Making Rhymes of Yesterday

I can't sleep so it's time for another...

Famous song rewritten as a limerick:

There once was a number called one,
The loneliest number he was,
But along came two,
Who soon bid him adieu,
Now maybe's the saddest for one
